ANU Open Day .. Or Not

By Andrew Simpson

So the trip down to the ANU Open Day didn't go quite to plan. I managed to lose my phone somewhere between leaving the house and filling up the car at the petrol station, however I did not realise this until I stopped for lunch halfway to Canberra. Of course, everybody's contact details were in the phone so a lot of stress ensued as I frantically tried to figure out how/if I could get in contact with people. Things would have been a lot less stressful if I had remembered that all my contacts are synced to my GMail account, however rational thought was largely forgotten. Eventually I managed to get L2L's phone number and we had some dinner and saw a movie, however I was not able to get in contact with jeremy or allycat. It was lovely to meet L2L at least and I hope she was not completely freaked out by my state of mind :P In other news, two weeks to go until the Flinders interview! It seems to have come around awfully fast given how tedious the rest of the waiting has been. Looking forward to the end of the process but also very nervous about totally screwing things up.

GMI Live!

By Andrew Simpson

The new GMI is now live and running smoothly after some initial teething problems with the document library. I have also made some minor tweaks to the GPA calculator so that it gives a representative GPA for those who only have completed subjects for GPA years 1 and 2. It looks like ANU are enforcing a wGPA cutoff of 34 this year (despite conflicting information presented on their web site) and so I just missed the cutoff with a 33.5. Nonetheless I will be down at ANU this coming weekend meeting other awesome PDers :D

Interview Offers Released

By Andrew Simpson

Well, interview offers are (mostly) out now. Sadly, and for reasons I am not really sure of, I seem to have been passed on from ANU down to my second preference (Flinders). On the basis of some of the other ANU interview offers posted, I can only guess that the effective GPA weighting that ANU use in their formula is much more than 50%. In any case, Flinders it is, so I will have to wrap my head around the idea pretty quickly and get stuck into the interview prep. Meanwhile, the updated GMI is *almost* there now, hopefully just a few more days before it can go live.

GMI Development Continues

By Andrew Simpson

I have got most of the structure sorted out for the new site and am slowly adding in the content. University Overview and Info pages are essentially complete apart from the blurb, the revised GPA calculator is almost there and I am compiling the quotation database for the Random GAMSAT Quote Generator. Hopefully will be able to release the new site soon!
